First children’s hospice in Berkshire
Specsavers stores in Windsor and Slough are supporting the Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service and its campaign to build the first children’s hospice in Berkshire.
Fundraising kick start
To kick start their fundraising efforts both opticians launched a toy drive, inviting customers to donate new, unused toys to their stores for the hospice, and for the charity’s Alexander Care Team for use in children’s own homes. They will also be used for raffles and tombolas at events held by the charity and the Specsavers stores. The two opticians are planning a number of activities throughout the year to help raise funds for the building of the hospice in Maidenhead.
Rupal Patel, store director of Specsavers in Windsor comments: ‘We’re really proud to be supporting the Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service. It’s a truly inspirational charity and we hope to raise a substantial amount of money throughout the year to help towards to building of the hospice.’
John Duminy, retail director of Specsavers in Slough continues: ‘The support the charity provides with their specialist nurses is an absolute life line for local families so the sooner the building of the hospice can start, the better. We’re really looking forward to helping the charity on its fundraising journey.’
Exciting new partnership
Susie Knowles, community fundraiser for Alexander Devine says: ‘We are thrilled to have been chosen as Windsor and Slough Specsavers’ local charity of the year. Both teams are so enthusiastic so we are really excited about this partnership. They have so many great fundraising ideas and they kicked off their support by very generously sponsoring our Scrummy Mummy Curry Night which was fantastic, we are incredibly grateful for this.’
You can support the toy drive by donating new and unused toys, or books, games and DVDs for children aged 0 to 19. Simply drop them off at the Specsavers stores in Windsor, located at 59 Peascod Street or Slough, located at 194 - 196 High Street where they will be collected and donated to the charity.
