The team at a Sleaford opticians have been raising their glasses after being highly commended in the North Kesteven District Council's window competition.
Staff at Specsavers on Southgate took part in the event which marked Armed Forces Week (25-30 June). The display included a wall of handmade knitted and crocheted poppies to commemorate 100 years since the end of World War I and an RAF100 theme to celebrate all the local bases in the area.
Many local businesses took part in the competition with four finalists being invited to the Veteran's Evening at the local council for an awards ceremony where the winners were announced.
‘We were pipped to the post in terms of winning the competition, but to pick up highly commended was fantastic recognition and we are all really proud of our efforts,’ commented Emma Carter, dispensing optician, Sleaford.
‘This is a great community initiative that helps to remember and celebrate our war heroes, so it’s good to be part of it.’
