Taryn Whitehead and Hayley Tootle recently joined Specsavers in Skelmersdale as apprentices. Both are settling in well, learning more about the workings of the opticians business with each day that passes.
What they have learnt so far
Their training so far has included learning how the internal Specsavers systems work which includes being taught how to book appointments and how to effectively search internal systems for customer records and information.
Both apprentices are also building on their own interpersonal skills further at the store too. They are learning how to deliver Specsavers' excellent customer service, which includes effectively responding to basic customer enquires and ensuring that each and every customer coming to the store is met with a freindly and helpful approach.
The training will also see the apprentices learn how to carry out pre-screenings, which takes place before an optician’s eye examination.
A great opportunity
Specsavers offers a great opportunity for its apprentices which includes on the job training, support and development offering those like Taryn and Hayley, that show enthusiasm and work hard, the chance to build a long lasting career within the company.
The new apprentices are doing well!
Dustgeer Garda, the director in Skelmersdale said: ‘Both girls are getting to grips with their roles very well already. We are keen that they learn as much as they can about the business and build up their optical experience at the same time too. It’s an exciting opportunity for both of them.'
He continues: 'With apprentices, you really get an opportunity to watch skills grow. As well as teaching our apprentices about the business while they work with us, we are able to send them on courses to ensure they build up their optical experience. Specsavers offers a great career opportunity for apprentices and Hayley and Taryn seem to be really enjoying it here. We are delighted that they have joined our team.’
