Last week, Specsavers in Sittingbourne held five days of fundraising activities, in aid of Comic Relief. The activities included tombola, a bake sell, a fitness bike cycling competition and a waxing session, which saw brave male members of the team getting their legs and chest waxed for the good cause.
All for a good cause
Thanks to these activities and the generous help of the local community, the store managed to raise more than £500 for the charity.
Additionally, the store sold 450 comedy waving hand glasses, bringing the total of raised money to £1400 . The proceeds will help support Comic Relief and the great amount of good this charity does worldwide.
A word from the director
David Moorman, store director of Specsavers in Sittingbourne, says: ‘We wanted to do something special for Comic Relief, as this is a charity the whole team is dedicated to and passionate about. That’s why, when it came to organising something for Red Nose Day, we decided that one day was not enough – we needed an entire week of fundraising activities.
‘Throughout the week, we managed to not only raise money for such an important cause, but we also managed to entertain and engage our local community, which means so much to us.
'Overall, we are really satisfied with the result and will possibly be looking at doing something even bigger next year!’
