Members of staff at Specsavers Sidcup have completed a course, developed with the National Autistic Society, to support customers with autism.
Nichola Wickenden and Phoebe Colfer both undertook the specialised training module, which aims to build a team’s knowledge about the lifelong developmental disability, while helping to improve the customer experience for people with autism, and their carers.
The online learning modules cover understanding autism; communicating with people with autism; how autism can impact the senses, and adjustments that stores can make.
Committed to learning
Nichola Wickenden, store manager at Specsavers Sidcup, says: ‘We’ve undertaken a number of training courses previously designed to give us a greater understanding of a range of conditions that customers may come into store with.
'Being able to offer the most compassionate standards of customer service possible is something we take very seriously in Sidcup and this training will be a great addition to our knowledge base.'
