For most people, an eye test means a quick check-up or maybe a new prescription for glasses or contact lenses.
But for one recent customer at Specsavers Shirley, their eye test meant an urgent hospital referral and what they have since described as a life-saving intervention.
Optometrist Krina spotted signs of extremely raised eye pressure, despite the customer not having any symptoms, and sent them to the hospital straight away.
And the grateful customer sent Krina chocolates, flowers and a card to say a big thank you.
A word from the store director
Sam Thaker, store director in Shirley, said: ‘We are delighted that, thanks to Krina, this customer received the help they needed quickly, and we are proud to be able to offer a professional service to all our customers.
‘It is comparatively rare for an eye test to lead to an urgent trip to the hospital but it can happen – and shows that getting your vision checked definitely is not just about getting a new pair of glasses. So if you have not had an eye test for a while, why not book one online today.’
