Specsavers in Shipley has a team member who took part in a group skydive to raise money for charity.
Umayr Zahid took the plunge to raise money for two organisations, mental health group Student Minds and homelessness charity Bradford Soup Run.
Raising funds for important causes
Money raised will go towards empowering students to look after their own mental health, supporting others and helping to create a change in order to transform the state of student mental health. In addition it will provide hot meals, clothing, bedding and ‘bags of encouragement’ to those in need. All funds raised will be split equally between the two charities.
Umayr is part of the University of Bradford’s Union of Students Raise and Give fundraising group.
‘I didn't only do this just for two really worthy causes, but also to personally challenge myself and experience something that not many others have.’ said Umayr of his fundraising mission.
A word from the store director
‘Bhrat Phakey, store director at Specsavers in Shipley, said: ‘We’re so proud of Umayr as a store for pushing himself and trying something new, all in the aid of local charities that are close to his heart. We’re backing him the whole way and look forward to inviting him back into store to congratulate him on his mighty feat.’
Umayr took part in the group skydive on Saturday 24 March 2018.
