Residents in Peterborough were treated to a day of fun and festivities as a local opticians celebrated its first birthday.

On Saturday 8 November Specsavers in Serpentine Green hosted a day of entertainment and activities to thank the community for their support during their first year in the town.

Birthday cake

Customers to the store were welcomed through an archway of balloons to enjoy the party and the delicious birthday cake provided for everyone to enjoy. The store held a number of prize draws and competitions with a signed Peterborough United shirt up for grabs and invited a town crier to make some noise about the brilliant offers of free sight tests and birthday cake to passers-by. Local side Yaxley Under 8’s also attended the day to get involved and show off their flashy new football kits which have been provided by the store.

Proud and excited

Steve Emmingham, store director of Serpentine Green Specsavers, says: ‘We are extremely proud and excited to be one year old at the Serpentine Green store and we are really happy that we were able to share this day with the local community. ‘We wanted to take the opportunity to thank our customers and give something back in the form of a fantastic birthday celebration, and we really hope that everyone enjoyed the day.’

Road safety week

The Serpentine Green store will be following its first birthday by calling on local schools and children’s clubs to enquire in store for free high visibility jacket donations in support of Road Safety Week to raise awareness of road safety and ensure children are safe when using the roads.
