Specsavers Seaford would like to thank the community for helping them collect 3,000 pairs of glasses for the Newhaven, Peacehaven & Seaford Lions Club.
Donating old specs
Throughout the year, Specsavers, located at 34 Broad Street, has been inviting people to donate their old specs in store to the charity, which provides eyecare services to communities in developing countries.
Specsavers Seaford store director, Martin East says: ‘We’re so grateful to everyone who has taken the time to bring in their old glasses.
Lacking access to eyecare services
‘The Lions Club does a tremendous amount of work providing support to people who lack access to eyecare services. In this country we can easily access professional eyecare on the high street and it’s something we all take for granted. In the developing world it’s a very different story and for that reason it is important we do what we can to improve eye health elsewhere.
‘We couldn’t have hit this huge figure without the help of our community, so a massive thanks to everyone who has donated their specs to this fantastic cause.’

The Newhaven, Peacehaven and Seaford Lions Club work alongside Lions Clubs all over the world to help people in disadvantaged countries receive eyecare.
