Amy Walden is an optical assistant at Specsavers Seaford in Broad Street.
Tell us a bit about yourself
I am Amy, I am 22 years old. I have been in optics – and more recently audiology – for almost a year here at Specsavers Seaford. I love our store and very much enjoy helping people choose stylish glasses.
Do you wear glasses yourself? If so, which style do you like best?
I do wear glasses, although I do not actually need to, as I think they have the ability to change how you look completely. I love round glasses - very chic yet retro.
What does your job involve?
My job involves everything from pre-tests on the machines before customers have their eye test to fixing hearing aids.
What is your favourite bit of your job? And the biggest challenge?
My favourite bit is that I play a part in helping people see. The biggest challenge is how much there is to learn in both optics and audiology, but it is fun and fascinating.
If you could have anyone come into the store for an eye test, who would it be and why?
Dame Vera Lynn, because she is an idol of mine and I would love to hear her stories.
