An optician in Scunthorpe celebrated Comic Relief in style with a host of in-store fundraising activity for customers to get involved with.
The Scunthorpe Specsavers store raised more than £400 for the charity by selling comedy glasses with hair-raising eyebrows, as well as hosting a jam-packed activity day on Friday 13 March. The funny family activities included funny for money selfies, a bake off and face painting, whilst all the staff dressed funny for money as well.
Taking inspiration from Gok Wan, who recently won the Comic Relief special episode of the Great British Bake Off, the team at the Specsavers store popped on their pinnies to bake a bundle of tasty treats. Customers indulged in store to help raise money for the worthy cause.
A word from the director
Speaking about the Comic Relief in-store fundraising, Andrew Mortimer, store director at Specsavers in Scunthorpe, said: ‘Comic Relief is a really worthy cause and we wanted to do all that we could throughout the day to raise as much money as possible for the charity.
‘Like all our past in-store charity initiatives, our customers were fantastic in supporting us and making our fun day of fund-raising a great success. Thanks to our customers an astonishing amount of money was raised for Comic Relief.
‘We thoroughly enjoyed making our faces funny for money to support the great work that Comic Relief does. We want to thank all, young and old, who came to join in the fun and buy their Red Nose Day glasses!’
