Tell us a bit about yourself
I currently live in Dalry and studied Optometry at Glasgow Caledonian University graduating this year with a first class honours degree.
Since childhood, eyecare has interested me. I attended hospital at an early age to have treatment for a squint – this experience played an important role in me choosing to pursue a career in optometry.
Tell us about your job
My role with Specsavers comes with a variety of tasks. The business requires a rather broad scope, so everyone must be able to perform multiple roles if needed. A typical day for me will include pre-testing, making appointments, ordering contact lenses, dispensing, post-testing and repairing glasses.
How did you get involved with Specsavers Saltcoats?
I started as an optical assistant at Specsavers Saltcoats in September 2015. This role has been instrumental, helping me to gain experience in all areas of optics from dispensing glasses to general customer service skills.
Now that I’ve graduated, I have started my pre reg year with Specsavers Saltcoats and can assist customers by completing their eye health checks.
Do you wear specs, what is your favourite style?
Yes, I’m slightly long-sighted so wear glasses or contact lenses every day. When I’m choosing a new pair I like square plastic frames, and as for colour, tortoiseshell is a must.
