Specsavers Salisbury store director, Anna Dailey has been reminding people about the importance of wearing appropriate protective eyewear when looking at the sun.

Solar eclipse

This comes after the solar eclipse, which happened on Friday 20 March and caused the UK to be covered in darkness as the moon moved directly between the sun and the Earth.

Sufficient eye protection

Anna Dailey says: ‘The solar eclipse would have resulted in lots of people looking directly at the sun, which, without sufficient eye protection, can result in temporary or even permanent visual loss.

Avoiding serious damage to eyes

‘The easiest way to watch a solar eclipse is to wear “eclipse glasses” with a certified solar filter. We’d like to remind our community that they should never look directly at the sun as this can cause serious damage to someone’s eyes.’
