To mark this year’s World Sight Day (Thursday 8th October), Specsavers in Salford has reminded locals of the importance of regular eye test.

Global Awareness

The international World Sight Day focuses on raising global awareness of the impacts of blindness and vision impairment.

The theme of 2015’s World Sight Day was ‘eye care for all’, a campaign which is designed to ensure global eye health care is not limited by either gender or geographic location.

Store director, Mahmoud Moustafa, said: ‘You only get one pair of eyes so it is important to look after them – if you’ve not had an eye test in the last two years you should make an appointment as soon as possible.’

Vision Aid Overseas

Additionally, Salford Specsavers staff have stepped up its efforts in aid of the Vision Aid Overseas charity.

To date Specsavers have channelled more than £300,000 into the Zambian partnership with Vision Aid Overseas, and they have set a target to fund vision centres in the country’s eight further provinces.

If you would like to contribute to Specsavers’ VAO effort, the Salford store will be collecting old glasses to the charity for the rest of the year.
