A Rutherglen opticians has pledged to keep local children safer by donating high visibility vests to a primary school and Scout group.
Primary one pupils at Burgh Primary School, and youngsters in the 113 Cub and Scout group received vests from Specsavers in Rutherglen.
The vests were donated as part of an initiative set up by Specsavers, to coincide with Road Safety Week (17 to 23 November), aimed at increasing the safety of local Glasgow children when out and about by making it easier for motorists to spot them.
Pupils at Burgh Primary received 100 vests and the 113 Cub and Scout group were presented with 40.
The youngsters were delighted to receive the vests and said a big ‘thank you’ to store staff.
Store director Peter Beaton said: ‘At this time of year with the dark mornings and nights, combined with the winter weather, it can be difficult for motorists to see pedestrians, and dusk is particularly hazardous when the children are walking home from school.
‘With this in mind we decided that, as part of Road Safety Week, we wanted to help increase the safety of children in Rutherglen and we were delighted to present the vests to the youngsters.’
