A proud husband and wife team is marking 20 years of looking after the vision of the people of Rutherglen.
Ann and Peter Beaton – the duo at the helm of the Specsavers store in the town – have now been in the optical business in Rutherglen for two decades.
Their career started when they set up the first Specsavers store in Aberdeen in 1989, which they ran for seven years.
After moving to Rutherglen in 1997, they set up an independent practice - Peter Beaton Opticians - and ran it for 10 years before rejoining Specsavers in 2007 and opening the store which still thrives in the town today.
A word from our store director
Director Peter said: ‘We can’t quite believe we’ve been in Rutherglen for 20 years. Time has flown by. Over the last two decades, we’ve seen a lot of changes but with Specsavers, what the customer is looking for has not changed.
‘People are seeking glasses that are good value for money and they want a personal and professional service. We provide very personalised customer service and it’s that which we feel differentiates us from other opticians.
‘Also, we’re now much more involved in managing the overall eye health problems of patients and diagnosing, treating and managing conditions.
Assistant manager Frances Cannon has also been with Peter and Ann since they started out, and received her long service award at the staff anniversary event in February.
Peter added: “Frances is a very important member of the team and we’re delighted to have her with us.
‘We’re very proud to be involved in helping the people of Rutherglen to look after their eyes. Our success is down to the combination of a warm and friendly environment, good value for money and people putting their trust in us.
‘We’ve enjoyed every moment of the last 20 years and there will be many more to come.’
