Members of staff at Specsavers Rushden will be supporting the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) during National Eye Health Week (19-25 September), raising vital funds and awareness for the sight loss charity.

£1 from every sight test

Store staff will be encouraging customers and passers-by to think about their eye health throughout the week, with £1 being donated to the RNIB for every sight test carried out during the event. The store will also be offering specs MOTs (cleaning and adjustments) in exchange for a contribution towards the charity.

Store director Andrew Darby said: ‘It’s astonishing that so many people are needlessly living with or at risk of sight loss in the UK today. Half of all sight loss cases are preventable – and a simple eye test can be the first step in prevention.

‘Our mission together with RNIB is to transform the nation’s eye health through education, awareness and action; we want to reverse these worrying eye health trends that are putting unnecessary pressure on the health service and placing a massive burden on the public purse.’
