Pupils at a number of local schools will be seen more clearly this winter, thanks to a donation of high-visibility vests from Rushden Specsavers.
The store has donated, in total, 150 high-visibility vests to South End Junior School, Whitefriars Junior School and Higham Ferres Junior School. The giveaway forms part of an initiative to make the roads safer for children in the darker months.
Andrew Darby, store director, said: ‘We’re delighted to give these vests to schools in the area, as they really make a difference when children are out and about near roads. National Road Safety Week has just finished, so it was a prime time to enforce the road safety message.’
Specsavers is the co-sponsor of Road Safety Week, which is an annual event organised by the charity, Brake. For more information, please visit www.brake.org.uk.
