The team at Runcorn Specsavers visited a member of the National Police Air Service (NPAS) and assisted the pilot with some specialist spectacles to help him see clearly in the sky.
Store director, Chris Graham, and optometrist, Eleanor Mitchell, visited Peter Delaney, the Manchester based pilot to test the strength of his eyes at distances between various switches within the helicopter.
As there are multiple displays and switches within the helicopter at a range of distances, multiple prescriptions were required within his glasses lenses to ensure he can see them all clearly.
After examination, Pete was prescribed with the perfect pair of specialist trifocals - glasses with lenses that have three regions which correct for distance, intermediate, and near vision.
A word from the store director
Chris Graham said: ‘It was great to be able to visit Pete and learn about his role with the NPAS. Vision is extremely important in his line of work and Specsavers are always on hand to provide expert advice and tips on maintaining healthy eyes.
‘Specsavers suggests everyone, no matter what profession they’re in, gets their eyes tested every two years to ensure anything that needs addressing is spotted sooner rather than later.’
