Specsavers' opticians in Royton has launched a Community Award to offer £10,000 over a 10 year period to sponsor a number of local community groups in Royton, Greater Manchester.
The store has called the award ‘The Royton Specsavers Community Award’. It will use its £10,000 award fund over the next decade to donate cash to registered charities and not-for-profit organisations in the local area, to recognise their efforts in the local community.
Supporting the local community groups
Store manager Rebecca Inman says: 'Everyone at the Royton store were really excited about launching the Community Award and we can't wait to unveil the winner. It is great that we have an opportunity to support local community groups and recognise all the hard work they do’.
Applicants to the Community Award were asked to write in to Rebecca Inman at the Royton store to explain in 500 words or less why their chosen group deserve the award and exactly what the sponsorship would mean to them.
Becky continues: ‘The Specsavers Royton store is owned by local people and employs local people. The staff and their families have benefited from the help of these community groups and have seen first-hand the great work being done locally’.
The winners will be announced on the 14 June.
