Rothwell Specsavers team celebrated five years of serving the community by hosting fun and festivities in-store to raise money for Guide Dogs.

Staff created a carnival atmosphere at Jail Yard Parade by setting up stalls complete with a spin-a-wheel and cakes for sale. The team were also supported by local representatives from Guide Dogs, who collected donations throughout the day.

Thepast five years

Specsavers has been at the heart of the local Rothwell community for the past five years and has become renowned for its expert eyecare and fundraising efforts.

Specsavers in Rothwell opened its doors in 2009 and attracted 5,380 customers in its first year alone. Starting with six members of staff, the team has grown to 15.

Exceptional customer service

The team prides itself on their exceptional customer service and providing the local community with outstanding eyecare advice. This was demonstrated recently through the team assisting local gentleman, Eddie Lucas, 75, by referring him to hospital following a routine eye appointment, where it was discovered that urgent medical attention was required.

Mandip Rehal, store director at Rothwell Specsavers, comments: ‘The team and I are incredibly excited to be celebrating this milestone birthday with the local community. We have an array of activities taking place on Sunday, including a pop-the-balloon competition, where we’ll be giving away 25 per cent off frames within lucky balloons.

‘The fundraising day is to thank our loyal customers for their support over the past five years, but also to raise awareness of the Guide Dogs charity. Representatives from Guide Dogs will be on hand throughout the day collecting donations.

‘Our main aim over the past five years has been to ensure that affordable eyecare is available to locals within Rothwell. Regular optical checks, at least every two years, can help discover any underlying health issues such as diabetes, high blood pressure or even cardiovascular disease, as well as ensuring you have clear comfortable vision. Eye examinations last just 30 minutes and can really help find any early signs of a medical condition.’
