A Forest of Dean resident has been chosen out of hundreds of people across central England as a regional finalist for the Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of the Year competition.
Melanie Cooper, aged 48, could win £10,000 and a luxury holiday in the Bahamas if she wins, as well as a chance to mingle with the stars at the 20th annual Spectacle Wearer of the Year Awards.
Melanie was invited to visit her local Specsavers store in Ross on Wye to receive a bottle of champagne, a certificate and a £150 glasses voucher.
‘I saw a leaflet advertising the competition in store so decided to send in a picture,’ said Melanie. ‘I’ve worn glasses since I was 15 so it’s great to reach the semi-finals! Winning a holiday to the Bahamas would be amazing, I’m keeping everything crossed!’
Lee Thomas, store director, said: ‘We’re so pleased that Melanie reached the regional semi-finals, it’s great to celebrate a specs wearer from the Ross on Wye area.’
