A feast of fundraising will take place at Specsavers in Ross-on-Wye on Friday 17 February to raise money for Comic Relief.
Staff from the store on Gloucester Road will be dressing up in a red theme for the day, as well as selling cakes to raise money for the charity ahead of Red Nose Day which takes place in March.
Customers will also be able to take part in three competitions in return for a donation; guess the name of the teddy, guess the number of sweets in the jar and a sweepstake. Youngsters will be able to put their creative skills to the test in some colouring competitions and specs MOTs (cleaning and adjustments) will be available.
‘We’re very much looking forward to our Comic Relief fundraising day and would like to encourage local people to come down and join in the fun,’ said store director Lee Thomas. ‘While it’s not officially Red Nose Day until Friday 24 March, we were keen to get our fundraising started.
'There will be lots going on for customers young and old and the team are really looking forward to getting into the fundraising spirit.’
Visitors to the store can also join in with this year’s Comic Relief theme ‘give us a wave’ with Specsavers’ official Red Nose Day glasses. The glasses, which have a waving hand on each side, come in children’s and adult sizes and are just £2, with all the money donated to Comic Relief. Customers will be encouraged to take a waving selfie while wearing the glasses and share it on social media using the hashtag #giveusawave.
Specsavers in Ross-on-Wye has joined Specsavers stores nationwide to support Comic Relief to help poor and vulnerable people living tough lives both here in the UK and across Africa and pledged to raise at least £250,000 for the charity.
