Two team members at Specsavers, Romsey, have taken on the Salisbury 5K Race for Life to raise £500 for a charity close to their hearts - Cancer Research UK.
A personal challenge
Two time cancer survivor and store director, Eve Roberston, completed the challenge for the fourth time, since her first race in 2008. She was joined by optical assistant Keeley Twigger who signed up for her first race following her Grandad’s recent cancer diagnosis and to support her Aunt and Eve as survivors of the disease.
A positive outlook
Eve said: ‘This time 6 months ago I was in hospital following a melanoma tumour removal and extensive reconstructive surgery to my hand. I was delighted to do something so positive after such a horrible time. I have been raising awareness and promoting skin health and sun protection as well as raising funds for cancer research.’
Events such as Race for Life are vital in funding Cancer Research UK's life-saving work into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer.
