The team at Specsavers Romford in South Street are delighted to announce that local mind coach and personal trainer Shane Haron has been named Spectacle Wearer of the Year 2018, winning a £10,000 cash prize and £1,000 worth of new glasses from Specsavers Romford.
Shane was crowned as the overall winner of the annual competition at a celeb-packed ceremony in London at the end of October, where he was presented with his award by hosts Rylan Clark and Claire Richards. The competition raised an amazing £105,000 for anti-bullying charity Kidscape.
A word from Shane
Shane said: ‘I’m absolutely over the moon! It’s funny, because when I first saw the advert to enter you get the negative voices in your head saying ‘oh, what’s the point, I’ll never win’, but this year has been a bit of a journey for me where I’ve purposely challenged those negative beliefs and pushed myself out of my comfort zone.
‘My immediate plan now is to expand my business so I can help more people dealing with trauma and anxiety to live happier lives. I was bullied as a child, so know the impact that can have on you as an adult, and having the chance to support others makes me feel very lucky.’
A word from the store director
Kevan Green, store director at Specsavers Romford, said: ‘We are all delighted for Shane. We’ve enjoyed spending time with him in the run up to the awards, and he is a really worthy winner.
‘It is great to hear that he plans to use his prize money – and his profile – to help others tackle their challenges. While he has terrific specs style, of course, he is also a really nice person and really deserves his success.’
