Spring has finally arrived but for many, this change of season can also be the beginning of their battle against hayfever. It is reported that one in four people throughout the UK have hayfever related symtoms*, leading Specsavers Ripon to urge any customers suffering to visit them instore for expert advice.
How to look after your eyes
Allergies can prove to be particularly annoying to contact lens and glasses wearers due to symptoms including itchiness, burning and watery eyes . If you wear glasses it is advised to switch to a wraparound version of your specs to keep any pollen away from the eyes. Although contact lens wearers are advised to switch to daily disposables to combat itching, if this fails it is best to also consider wearing some wraparound glasses for the hayfever season.
A word from the store director
Caroline Sullivan at Ripon Specsavers, comments: “Hayfever and allergies can often be dismissed as a trivial problem. This shouldn’t be the case, allergies can not only disturb sleep, they also affect concentration and cause people to miss school or work.
“We want our local residents to know that we are on hand to help this hayfever season. I would urge anyone seeking advice to visit us here at Ripon Specsavers and we will do our very best to assist them.”
