Specsavers in Ripley has made a donation of more than 60 Easter eggs to a local charity, Home Start Ripley, which offers parents help to build better lives for their children.
Families in need over Easter
The store on Oxford Street received the eggs from customers and members of the community who donated the treats in store. Representatives from Home Start visited the store last week to collect the eggs, and delivered them to families in need over the Easter period.
Home Start work with families from all backgrounds who need a little extra support – whether emotional, educational or practical.
Fantastic local effort
Ripley Specsavers store director Kuldip Dosanjh commented: ‘It was a really fantastic local effort and we are so amazed at the generosity of the community. We hope that the eggs, despite being just a small gesture, helped to make Easter an easier time for families who are facing difficulties.
‘We have heard from the charity that all of the families were so grateful and to pass on their thanks to all those who donated an egg. They also expressed their amazement that people have been so generous to help families they don't even know. A fantastic effort all round.’
Across the UK, thousands of Home Start volunteers visit families in their own homes every week. They support parents in situations as diverse as bereavement, births, disability or simply those who are struggling. The support and advice they provide is non-judgemental, practical and emotional, and the aim is to build the family’s confidence allowing them to cope with their situations.
