The team at Specsavers Ripley celebrated the store’s fourth birthday with a fundraising spec-tacular for their nominated local charity, Home Start, on Saturday 3 August.
Staff at the store ran a raffle, with a range of prizes on offer, and handed out goody bags in return for donations to Home Start Ripley – a charity offering parents help to build better lives for their children.
‘The sun shone and visitors were generous – so we had the perfect day to celebrate and to give something back on Saturday,’ said store director Kuldip Dosanjh. ‘We’ve now raised £268 for Home Start Ripley since we started supporting them last year and hope that we’ll be able to make £500 by the end of this year.’
Across the UK, thousands of Home Start volunteers visit families in their own homes every week. They support parents in situations as diverse as bereavement, births, disability or simply those who are struggling. The support and advice they provide is non-judgemental, practical and emotional, and the aim is to build the family’s confidence in allowing them to cope with their situations.
