Specsavers Rickmansworth has collected more than 400 pairs of used and unwanted glasses from the community to help improve access to eye care services in developing nations.
A clear vision
The team encouraged local residents to donate to the scheme in aid of international sight charity, Vision Aid Overseas. The charity works in six African nations to establish vision centres, train healthcare workers and utilise the expertise of volunteers to give people desperately-needed eye examinations and treatment.
A word from the store director
Store director, Ali Hashim, says: ‘We have been inundated with donations from members of the public and cannot believe how many pairs of glasses have been dropped off. We would like to thank all the generous people who have helped support the campaign.
‘We will continue to drive this campaign forward and will continue to accept any used or unwanted specs from members of the public.’
‘We’re keen to keep the momentum going, so if you have an old pair of specs at home, pop into the store and drop them in our donation box. This simple act goes a long way in making a big difference to someone less fortunate than us.’
