The Richmond store is marking its 12th anniversary while supporting the local community during the coronavirus pandemic.

Birthday plans for the Specsavers in King Street have been turned on their head due to strict social distancing measures in store.

However, store director Ross Campbell, says he is proud to mark the occasion with colleagues during what has otherwise been a very challenging time.

A word from the director:

Ross says: ‘Staff at the Richmond store are delighted to have reached this fantastic milestone and we are proud to be on hand to help look after the eye and ear health of local residents.

‘Over the last 12 years, our store has gone above and beyond to support the local community, raising funds for a number of charities and various causes, including the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB), Guide Dogs for the Blind, Vision Aid Overseas (VAO), CALM, British Heart Foundation, Storehouse Foodbank, and more.

‘The current climate is very challenging indeed, but this has not affected our commitment to helping local people. We have been working round the clock to ensure that we are here to help those who may need us. It’s a very busy time for us, but we are getting customers booked in as quickly as we can accommodate them.’

Reason to celebrate:

Specsavers in Richmond is also celebrating the recent appointment of two new partners at the store, with long-serving colleagues Kimberley Bewick and Florence Campbell becoming Retail Director and Ophthalmic Director.

Kimberley and Florence, both from Darlington, have worked in the store for a decade and have worked their way up within the business over the years.

Ross says: ‘We are thrilled to have Kimberley and Florence on board as Partners of our business and we look forward to many more successful years looking after the eye and ear health of local people.’

Customers must book store appointments in advance, enabling the store to manage social distancing, and a range of new hygiene and personal protection measures are in place.

New measures include restrictions on the number of customers allowed in store, strict social distancing, card payments instead of cash where possible and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in line with NHS guidance.  All testing equipment and frames are thoroughly sanitised after each use.

Anyone wishing to book an appointment must contact the Richmond store in advance on  01748 829 960.
