The Reigate team has been up-skilling ahead of World Glaucoma Week (11-18 March).
Better support for Reigate customers
Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of preventable sight loss and this week, the team is keen to remind customers of the importance of regular sight tests.
It is estimated that nearly 700,000 people in the UK today suffer from Glaucoma, but as many as 50% of these are undiagnosed.
Training for the team
Working with charity, the International Glaucoma Association (IGA), Specsavers has developed the training for its retail teams to assist sufferers with their treatment. Store manager, Tom Kirkpatrick, is facilitating the training session with the team. Tom is discussing how to properly and effectively administer eye drops, which is one crucial step for managing the condition.
A word from the Reigate team
Store manager Tom Kirkpatrick says: 'We have always been big supporters of the International Glaucoma Association and anything that we can do here at our store to ensure that we are providing stellar service and advice to our customers about glaucoma is always welcomed.
'We do want to remind residents of Reigate that this condition is a preventable sight loss condition and having your two year eye examinations is the one simple step you can take to ensure you protect your vision for the long term.'
