The team at Specsavers Portslade would like to say a massive thank you to their customers for bringing their used glasses into the Boundary Road store.
Thanks to their efforts, the store is just about to send over 100 pairs of glasses which might otherwise end up in the bin to Vision Aid Overseas.
Improving eye health
The charity uses the money raised from recycling the glasses to improve eye health in the developing world.
The store is still collecting glasses, so customers are being urged to keep dropping them in.
A word from the store director
Sophie Sharma, store director in Portslade, said: ‘Vision Aid Overseas do some amazing work to deliver eye care in parts of the world which are not lucky enough to have the same access that we do in the UK.
‘So please bring us your old glasses so we can pass them on for recycling. It really does make a massive difference – amazing when you think that otherwise they would probably just be thrown away.’
