The team from Specsavers Portishead are offering a helping hand this festive season, collecting gift boxes from the local community as part of the Holly Hedge Animal Shoebox Appeal.
The store is inviting customers, passers-by and the wider Portishead community to dig deep for their furry friends this Christmas, with all the gifts going to local animal rescue centres.
Give a special gift this Christmas
Pip Sharp, contact lens supervisor, has been volunteering at Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary since 2013, helping to support the charity’s ongoing work re-homing cats and dogs.
‘We support Holly Hedge as much as we can, and this is a great way for the local residents of Portishead to get involved and champion the cause. All you need to do is fill a shoe box with animal related gifts – such as treats, bedding or toys – and then mark it as a cat or dog box. We’ll be acting as a drop off point up until Christmas and are really looking forward to meeting all the wonderful people taking the time to donate to the appeal.’
Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary has a variety of volunteer roles available, from dog walking and cat cuddling through to helping out in the office and organising events.
