Staff at Portishead Specsavers will be dressed in neon on Friday 9 October as they welcome some special visitors into the store as part of Guide Dogs Week 2015.
Guide Dogs Week is the charity’s annual awareness and fundraising week which takes place from 3-11 October. Specsavers has proudly supported the charity for more than 10 years, raising a nationwide total of £270,000 to fund 25 guide dog puppies.
Getting behind the charity’s ‘Let’s Glow’ theme, the team will be joined by two guide dogs and their handlers on the day. Besides learning more about Guide Dogs, visitors will also be able to treat themselves to a slice of cake as the store hosts a cake sale in support of the charity.
Guide Dogs in the local community
‘We’re really proud to be supporting Guide Dogs once again this year,’ said Nic Johns, store director. ‘As we’ll be joined by a puppy and guide dog on the day, it will be a great opportunity for our customers to find out more about the charity’s work in the local community. We’ll also be holding a cake sale to round off a week of fundraising, so we hope to see lots of customers stopping by to join us.’
Every donation helps
Lisa Bell, Guide Dogs’ corporate partnerships officer, said: ‘Every hour another person in the UK loses their sight, and the impact is life changing. The Guide Dogs charity is here to make sure that when someone loses their vision they don’t have to lose their freedom as well. This Guide Dogs Week we want to reach even more people to raise awareness and reach our biggest ever Guide Dogs Week fundraising target of £1million. Everyone is invited to join in the ‘Let’s Glow’ fun, meet some amazing people and have a good time!’
