Generous Porthcawl residents have helped their local Specsavers store raise more than £80 for UK charity Guide Dogs.
Customers of Specsavers on John Street bought £1 raffle tickets to try to win a summer picnic hamper. The fundraiser collected £84 for the charity, which helps people who are blind or partially-sighted enjoy the same freedom of movement as everyone else.
Guide Dogs offers a range of support besides specially-trained dogs. This includes practical and emotional support to families with children who are visually impaired and ensuring children with sight loss are supported at school.
A great cause
Claire Edwards, director at Specsavers Porthcawl, says: ‘Many people don’t realise the full range of support the charity offers. There is an obvious connection between our work and that of Guide Dogs, so we are always happy to fundraise to support its services.
‘The charity does excellent work and many of our patients are grateful for its services and support. We are grateful to everyone who supported the fundraiser by getting a raffle ticket.’
