Jamie from Portadown has been shortlisted as a regional finalist for the Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of the Year Award for the 35 – 44 category.
Jamie was encouraged to apply for the competition by his because of his confidence as a long-time glasses wearer.
‘My fiancé encouraged me to apply but I didn’t think I was much of a role model until I heard the news that I was shortlisted, I was completely shocked.’
A confidence boost
‘I’ve really enjoyed the process so far and I am delighted to be a regional finalist for my category it has been a real confidence boost to represent men my age who wear glasses.’
A strong contender
Specsavers Portadown and Craigavon Director JP Rice said – ‘Well done to Jamie for being shortlisted for the competition. He is a great example of someone who is a confident glasses wearer. Jamie is also interested in trying out new frame shapes and ranges with Framestyler. We wish him the best of luck in the rest of the competition going forward.’
Glitzy London awards ceremony
The awards were launched by Steps star Claire Richards earlier this year. If Jamie triumphs in his age category, he will have the chance to win £10,000, meet Claire and rub shoulders with many other celebs at the glitzy awards ceremony at London’s 8 Northumberland Avenue in October.
