Emma Davies, store manager at Specsavers in Pontypridd, has celebrated her 20th anniversary of working at the store, having first joined the team as a receptionist aged 17 in 1995.
Progressed career in-store
With the guidance of store director, Paul Molton, Miss Davies gained hands-on experience assisting with sight tests and was promoted to trainee dispensing assistant, progressing to her appointment of store manager in 2000.
In 2006, Miss Davies’ career at Specsavers progressed further when she started to study part-time for a diploma through the Open University to become an advanced clinical assistant at the Pontypridd store. Specsavers ensured she was able to balance her working hours with independent study, and Mr Molton assisted her with any queries she had throughout her studies.
The Pontypridd store has also undergone some significant changes since Miss Davies joined in 1995, with the number of staff growing over time from 10 to a team of 55 full and part-time staff members.
Inspiration to staff
The team presented Miss Davies with a gold brooch to mark her long-standing service to the store, as well as a bottle of champagne and a framed certificate.
Paul Molton, director of Specsavers in Pontypridd, said: ‘All the team would like to congratulate Emma on her 20 years of service. Emma has been a key part of the team since day one and is an inspiration to both staff and customers.
‘Her determination to progress her career with Specsavers, including studying in her own time for her Open University degree and her commitment to providing the best service possible to our loyal customers are fantastic qualities to have in a store manager. We are very proud to have her as part of the team.’
