Four local women have celebrated reaching a combined 60 years of providing eye care services to the people of Pontypridd.
Senior optometrist, Nicola Davies, and supervisor, Jo Williams, both celebrated 20 years of service at the Specsavers store on Taff Street. Optical assistant, Kirsty Mogford, and contact lenses assistant, Maree Price, also marked 10 years’ service.
Sought after staff
Ms Davies, who joined the store as a part-time assistant in 1998, has since become a sought-after optometrist by many locals who have been treated by her during the past 20 years.
Commenting on her two-decade milestone, Ms Davies says: ‘Since joining Specsavers back in the 90s, my job has provided a massive learning curve. I started out on one-day-a-week contract, without any prior optical experience or knowing whether optics would even be for me, but despite this, I never looked back.
‘The team invested a lot of time into helping me grow professionally and I soon realised it was something I was good at. I’ve enjoyed every minute of my time with Specsavers and I have no doubt that Jo, Kirsty and Maree would say the exact same thing.’
Ms Williams, who supervises the 30-strong team, is also celebrating two decades of service at the store, while Ms Mogford and Ms Price are familiar faces to customers seeking advice on frames and contact lenses as they have worked at the store for a decade.
Geraint Jones, store director, adds: ‘It’s no surprise that all four members of staff have had such success with us, as they all embody the “can-do” attitude we encourage in our team. These ladies have helped ensure customers leave our store satisfied with a smile on their face for the past few decades and are valuable assets to the team.’
