Staff at Specsavers in Pontypridd have raised more than £100 for Tŷ Hafan by holding a bake sale in store.
Baking for charity
Staff at the Taff Street opticians were encouraged to get baking, bringing in their best cakes and sweet treats to sell to customers for a 30p donation per item.
By the end of the day the store had raised £106 for Tŷ Hafan, a hospice that cares for life-limited children and young people throughout Wales and provides specialist support to their families.
‘Dig deep and donate’
Geraint Jones, director of Specsavers in Pontypridd, said: ‘As a local store with a community focus we were delighted to see our customers dig deep and donate for Tŷ Hafan. In fact, the cakes proved so popular that we had sold out by 3pm.
‘Tŷ Hafan’s vital support for children across the country is something we all appreciate but, if it wasn’t for donations, it wouldn’t be able to continue. We therefore thank everyone who helped out and would urge anyone who hasn’t already, to donate and support the charity in some way.’
