Specsavers in Pontypool is celebrating 10 years in business.
The store was first opened on George Street in 2007 by Pontypool-born director and optician Anna Davies, who had previously worked in Cardiff and Cwmbran as an optician.
Expanded to manage demand
The business opened with four members of staff and one test room, but has since expanded to manage demand, doubling its workforce to eight and adding a second test room.
‘I’m so proud to see what we have achieved,’ says Ms Davies. ‘Our team has steadily grown throughout the last decade as we have built a reputation as a professional, reliable and friendly local business.
‘Without the support of the Pontypool community, our store wouldn’t be in the position it’s in today.
'It’s a fantastic achievement to reach this milestone, and great to celebrate with staff, some of whom were with me when we first opened 10 years ago.’
Hi-vis vest donations
Hi-vis vests were also handed out to customers during the anniversary party to highlight the importance of being safe and seen on the roads this winter.
Ms Davies adds: ‘As the darker evening’s draw in it’s vital that people, especially children, can be seen when they are out and about.
'By handing out the hi-vis vests to our customers, we were able to educate people about the importance of road safety - something that is very importance to us.’
