A Peterborough opticians resembled a scene from a comic book recently, when it held a superhero fundraiser in aid of a local children’s charity.
Specsavers Peterborough raised a £108 for its nominated charity EACH. Staff dressed up as their favourite superheroes and theme music was played in store throughout the day. To help boost funds, staff also held a cake sale and asked for donations in return for specs MOTs.
Supporting a fantastic charity
Steve Emmingham, store director of Specsavers Peterborough says: ‘It was great to see all the staff channel their inner superhero for the day. EACH is a fantastic charity and we’ve all enjoyed coming up with new and inventive ways to help raise vital funds for such a worthwhile cause. The costumes looked fantastic, although Spiderman had a few problems carrying his pens around due to the lack of pockets!’
East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices fundraiser, Mark Loades says: ‘We are grateful for all of the support which Specsavers has given us this year. All money raised will help us to continue our work and provide care and support to families of children who have been diagnosed with terminal illnesses.’
Specsavers stores in and around the region have come together to help the group of hospices that support families and provide care for children and young people with life-threating conditions across Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex.
