More than 250 high-visibility vests have been donated to community groups across Pembroke Dock by an opticians in an effort to keep children safe this winter.

Close community ties

Staff at Specsavers donated 80 high-visibility vests to The Pembroke Harlequins RFC junior team and 120 to the Vibe School of Dance, while the other jackets were donated to children who visited the store.

Store director, Andrew Williams, visited the groups to deliver the jackets. He says: ‘As a local business with close ties to its community, it’s important to us to help keep people safe.

‘Poor weather conditions and dark evenings make our roads more dangerous, so we donated the vests in hope that motorists will be able to see children more clearly when they are out and about in the community.’

‘A welcome addition’

Hannah Davey, owner of Vibe School of Dance, says: ‘The group participates in many community-focused events, such as carnivals and charity events, so the high-visibility vests will be a welcome addition during the darker winter nights.’
