The team at Specsavers Pembroke Dock took advantage of a sunny spell to clean and adjust residents’ spectacles – raising funds for children with brain conditions in the process.
‘Sun’s out, pod’s out’
‘Sun’s out, pod’s out’ is the motto of store director Ellie Thomas-Wigley, who encourages staff to meet with passers-by whenever the weather is good.
During the good weather, staff offered free spectacle cleaning and nose tip adjustments, as well as advice about general eye health, welcoming donations to the store’s charity of the year, Cerebra. The initiative raised £67.
‘As a community-focused business, I think it’s important for us to get out and meet people,’ says Ellie. ‘The Welsh weather is unpredictable, so if the sun’s out we make the most of it. We often chat to people about the importance of regular eye tests and this time we also spoke to them about Cerebra’s fantastic work.
'As soon as people heard about the support the charity provides to children with brain conditions and their families they wanted to contribute. It was wonderful to see.’
