Team members at Specsavers in Palmers Green want to say a big thank you to the community for helping those less fortunate.

Helping those in developing countries get access to quality eyecare

Palmers Green has long been a supporter of Vision Aid Overseas, an international charity that takes unwanted, broken or out of date frames and recycles their components to  assist their cause.  The charity is always in need of funding to help establish vision centres,  buy equipment and train local eyecare professionals in isolated communities and  these old, unwanted frames helps to achieve these aims.

Says optometrist store director Jaswinder Singh Nagra

'Without the kind donations of our customers, we wouldn't be packing off hundreds of frames every month to Vision Aid Overseas.  We wanted to say a big, heartfelt thank you to everyone who has brought in their frames this year and we look forward to receiving many more in the months to come.'

Jaswinder goes on to explain how lucky we are in the UK to have access to professional eyecare services. 'In developing countries, millions of people can’t see properly because they need glasses and thousands are in danger of going blind, due to the lack of professionals and basic facilities.  Those old pair of glasses really can make a difference.'
