To celebrate the store’s tenth anniversary, Palmers Green Specsavers enjoyed a week long birthday celebration from Monday 6 February to Sunday 12 February. All were welcome to get into the party spirit with balloons, birthday cake and ten pairs of glasses to be won over the week – one for every year of trading.

A decade of history in the community

Specsavers in Palmers Green was first welcomed to Green Lanes on December 16 2006 with a slender team of just four staff. Cementing itself firmly on the high street as a professional optician with a local community feel, the store now enjoys a strong team of ten, with over 100 years combined optical experience. The store has become part of the fabric of the local community, conducting more than 650 tests per month.

Over the last decade, the store has seen the expansion of the hearing centre in 2010, moved from single testing to double when director, Jaswinder Singh Nagra, joined the store in 2010, introduced i-harmony technology, increased opening from six to seven days a week in 2011, and enjoyed a total store refurbishment in 2014.

Community Spirit

From free ‘home visits’ providing hearing tests to the elderly at the Ruth Winston Centre, to sponsoring local school sports teams and donating £1 to North London Hospice for every eye test performed – the Palmers Green team have been helping the local community from day one.

Their charitable efforts are set to be vamped up throughout the stores tenth year, as they pledge to make 10 charitable donations throughout the year in celebration of the decade of trading!

A word from the store director

Jaswinder Singh Nagra said: ‘Since joining the store in 2010, I have seen a magnitude of changes which have continued to improve the service we have been able to offer Palmers Green and I am so proud of what we have achieved so far in raising awareness of the importance of eye health within the community.

'We are pledging to make 10 charitable donations throughout the year ahead, in honour of our 10 years in business. I want to spread the message of the importance of having an annual eye examination which can detect a whole host of other conditions, such as diabetes, glaucoma and high blood pressure, into our community!’
