Amy Chotai, optometrist at the Paisley store, has been appointed as the store's director after joining the team just over eight years ago.
Amy joined the Moss Street store when she was nearing the end of high school following in the footsteps of her father Shirish Chotai, who became store director at Specsavers 23 years ago.
Sights set on Specsavers career
Looking to build her career at Specsavers following her initial role in store, Amy went on to study Optometry at Glasgow Caledonian University, all while continuing her work in-store as a part-time Optical Assistant. She graduated from her course in 2015 and following her final exams and pre-registration year in store, Amy became a fully-qualified optometrist in 2016.
Amy said: ‘Having studied optometry for several years and now working in the field every day, I have a huge passion for the health sector and ensuring that customers receive the very best care when it comes to eye health.
‘I love the challenge that my job brings me every day, and the team in Paisley are fantastic so makes it easier to deliver the best service to our customers.’
Amy added ‘The store has played such a big part of my life, ever since my dad joined 23 years ago, he and the staff here have worked so hard to build the practice up to the success that it is today. To work alongside the staff here and to fill my dad’s role in store is a huge honour for me.
Amy will work alongside current store director Gail Thompson, who has been a director at Specsavers Paisley for 10 years now.
Gail said: ‘It’s been fantastic watching Amy progress throughout her career as an optometrist and we’re delighted to be able to support her during her Specsavers journey. With her skills and experience, as well as the constant hard work from the wider team, we’re certain that Amy will help us maintain the key role we play within the Paisley community.’
