Abby Jobson from Specsavers Oxford is taking on the Marathon in a Month Challenge for Freddie’s Future to help raise funds for the Bone Cancer Trust.
The store director and optometrist has decided to lace up her running shoes and take on the challenge in support of six-year-old Freddie Croft, her young son’s best friend who has a rare form of bone cancer, Ewings sarcoma.
‘I’m not a runner so this is going to be tough,’ said Abby ‘But I’m determined to raise money that will help fund vital research. Charities have been badly hit during the Coronavirus pandemic so if you can spare a donation, no matter how small, I’d be really grateful. I’ve set a target of £1,000 and will be starting to run from Sunday 6 September with the aim of completing 26.2 miles over the following 30 days.
‘Freddie was diagnosed back in November 2019 and has undergone aggressive chemo and radiotherapy which has seen him spend long stints in hospital. His family are keen to help raise awareness, as well as funds so that the Bone Cancer Trust can continue to help others like him.’
