Optician Abby Jobson from Specsavers Oxford is celebrating after she was recognised for ten years’ service.
Following the completion of her optometry degree at Glasgow Caledonian University and her pre-registration year, once fully qualified, Abby was then given the opportunity to travel to the other side of the world and help open and run Specsavers’ first store in Australia.
With the Australian store set up and running smoothly, Abby returned to her roots back in the UK and took up the position of joint venture partner at the Oxford city centre store in 2010. Today, alongside fellow store director Greg Harding, Abby helps run the business, heading up a team of 35 staff.
‘I love what I do, the combination of the clinical and people aspect of carrying out eye examinations alongside the challenges and rewards of running a business,’ said Abby. ‘Ten years seems to have flown by and in that time I’ve seen lots of changes, most notably was probably our store relocation in 2015. It’s great to be able to celebrate after what has been a challenging few months as we’ve adapted to new ways of working, but the whole team have been brilliant. I’m looking forward to seeing what the next ten years will bring.’
