Elmokhtar Berrabah, a computer science student from Killyclogher is a finalist in this year’s Specsavers’ Spectacle Wearer of the Year.
Elmo (20) is a past pupil of Drumragh Integrated College and is currently studying at Liverpool John Moores University. Elmo is hoping to follow in the footsteps of last year’s award winner, Love Island hunk Alex Miller, winning £10,000 and meeting lots of celebs at the annual awards evening in London.
Tested new Framestyler technology
Elmo visited the staff at Specsavers in Omagh to receive a bottle of champagne, a certificate and a £125 glasses voucher. He also took the opportunity to try Specsavers’ innovative Framestyler technology to help choose a new pair of specs, ahead of the next round of judging.
Would use prize fund to complete airline pilot training
Elmo said, ‘I’m thrilled to be a local winner in this exciting Specsavers competition. I spotted it on Instagram and thought it would be great fun to enter. If I were lucky enough to reach the final in London and won the top prize, I’d want to use the money to fund training to become an airline pilot – it’s been an ambition of mine for several years. It’s also brilliant that the competition helps raise funds to support anti-bullying charity Kidscape.’
Omagh staff thrilled for Elmo
Store optometry director Donna Harbison congratulated Elmo on being a 16-24 category winner saying, ‘Myself, Emma and all our staff were delighted to welcome Elmo into the store and we’re so pleased to have a regional winner from Omagh. Elmo is a super ambassador for specs wearers and has a great eye for stylish glasses. We all wish him the very best of luck for the next round of judging.’
