A fun day hosted by Specsavers in Old Swan for the local community to enjoy has raised £159 for Alder Hey children’s hospital.
Old Swan held the fun day to inform and remind the local community of the optical and audiology services it offers and to also to offer an opportunity to meet the team who work at the store.
Fun and games
As well as on the spot glasses and hearing aid repairs, the store also held a raffle and a ‘guess how many sweets are in the jar’ competition, as well as a ‘guess the celeb’ competition and a drawing competition for kids to raise cash.
Raising cash for a good cause
The store chose to donate all proceeds from the fun day to Alder Hey children’s hospital. Local businesses helped in donating items for the raffle too and the store’s stall outside of the store attracted numerous passers-by who were keen to join in the fun and games and also learn about the services the store provides.
As a result of the day’s activities, the store raised £159 for Alder Hey, which is all thanks to the generosity of the local community and staff at the store.
A brilliant team at Old Swan
Paul Stanway, store director, said: ‘We have an excellent team here at Old Swan. When we decide to do something, the staff all pull all the stops out to make sure its as successful as it can be. What was nice about the fun day was that we met so many members of the local community, a few of which didn’t know much about the store at all.
To raise £159 in one day is testament to all of the effort the team at the store put in. It was a lovely day and we are looking forward to doing similar, community-focused events in the future.’
Old Swan was recently taken over by Paul Stanway who is also director at the Norris Green store. The store provides optical and audiology services seven days a week.
